Hunan Infant Clothing

From the Hunan Provincial Bureau of quality and technical supervision, in May this year, the Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau sampled 67 batches of infant clothing in the market, and 42 batches were qualified, with an average pass rate of 62.7%, down 3.3 percentage points from the same period last year.

In this regard, Hunan Province fibre Xie Hui, director of the inspection center of the Inspection Bureau, suggested that parents should not only look at Hue while buying clothes for infants and young children, but also pay attention to the locations and brands, and read the product labels carefully. At the same time, attention should be paid to choosing clothes with little accessories, and the color of clothes should not be too bright.

There are four major problems in sampling clothing for infants and young children.

The test results showed that Infant clothing There are four main problems in the product: first, the identification of fabric content is inconsistent with reality. For example, the marked cotton injection (natural fiber) content is 70%, while the actual detection may be only 40%. Other ingredients are chemical fibers. There are 10 such problems, accounting for 14.9% of the sample batches and two of the pH values. There are 7 such problems, accounting for 10.4% of the sample batches and three of color fastness is not up to standard requirements. There are 8 products of this kind, accounting for 11.9% of spot checks, four of which are not marked or incomplete. If there is no production enterprise name, no production site, etc. There are 20 such problems, accounting for 29.9% of the sample batches. In addition, some products still have problems such as washout dimensional change rate and other items.

The samples were taken from some shopping malls and supermarkets in Changsha, Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, Hengyang, Chenzhou, Huaihua, Shaoyang, Yiyang and other central cities in Hunan, including underwear, T-Shirts, jackets, cotton padded clothes, jeans and so on.

Infant clothing is clothing for infants aged 36 months or below 104cm and below. In fact, China's first industry standard specifically formulated for infants and young children (24 months and under age) has been formally implemented since October 1, 2008. It clearly stipulates that infants and young children who are not qualified for heavy metal residues and safety design will not be sold in factories.

Interpretation of parents' clothing dyeing No attention to fastness

Xie Hui, director of the inspection center of Hunan Fiber Inspection Bureau, told reporters that because the skin of infants is more tender than adults, it is more sensitive to toxic and harmful residues of clothing fibers and textiles, and therefore puts forward more stringent requirements for infant clothing. The key indicators include: composition content, formaldehyde content, pH value, odor, decomposable aromatic amine dye, heavy metal, color fastness, clothing, sewing strength, buttons and other non removable accessories pulling force.

For ingredients, Xie Hui recommends the use of cotton fiber as raw material for processing infant clothing, because cotton fiber has the characteristics of strong hygroscopicity, good air permeability and little irritation to skin.

In addition, because formaldehyde can cause asthma, tracheitis, chromosomal abnormalities and resistance decline, so in national standards, the requirements for formaldehyde content in infant clothing are strict with adult clothing, and the formaldehyde content in each kilogram of fabric should not exceed 20 mg.

In addition, infants and young children will be more sensitive to clothing with excess pH value, which may lead to dermatitis, skin swelling and other symptoms. Therefore, the standard stipulates that the pH value of textiles should be controlled in neutral and weak acid (pH value is 4 to 7.5).

"Many parents pay little attention to color fastness when they buy clothes for their babies," Xie Hui said. Dyestuffs failed to pass the product. Dyestuffs may migrate to the skin of infants and children, or through oral cavity, to infuse the body, thereby endangering the health of infants and young children.

In this regard, Consumers Association experts remind parents to buy children's clothing when found problems, can be found in accordance with the standards of businessmen and manufacturers to talk about, but also to find consumer rights organizations to protect their rights.
