Japan's Cabinet Office released its findings on 9 May.

Confidence index rose 1.1 points over the previous month, the first rise in four months.


According to the survey, Japan's consumer confidence index was 34.2 in May, but it was still low, but it improved compared with the April survey.

"The time to purchase durable goods" increased by 1.6, 0.2, 0.2 and 2.6 respectively compared with April.


However, compared with the same period last year, Japan's consumer confidence index fell 7.7 points in May.

Japan's Cabinet Office accordingly revised the May consumer confidence judgment from last month's "deterioration" to "still grim."


The consumption trend survey is based on the expectations of 5000 families in the Japanese government in the following four years: "family status", "means of income increase", "employment environment" and "judgement on the timing of purchasing durable goods".
