Judging from the current buying group of children's clothing market in China, the main force is mainly composed of "post-80s" parents, and will spread to the "90s" parents in the next few years. Data from some research institutes also confirm the objective consumption of children's clothing market in China. At present, there are more than 300 million children under 14 years of age in China, of which 100 million are urban. The 2011-2016 China boys' children's clothing market analysis and investment strategy research report released by relevant professional organizations pointed out that the annual compound growth rate of Chinese children's clothing consumption exceeds 10%. Dongfang securities predicts that the size of children's clothing market will reach 157 billion 800 million yuan by 2015.


"Big children's clothing is almost the most surprising business activity at the moment." Cheng Hui, chief investment officer of Shanghai Jinyu department store Limited, once told the media. In the face of tempting market cake, big enterprises are also eager to take aim at children's clothing. But on the other hand, compared with the huge market and higher gross margin, it is a slightly disordered competition. Surveys show that China's children's clothing industry has low entry threshold and low investment, and price competition is the main factor. Even the top three brands have less than 5% market share.


   Children's wear quality problem frequently happen


Recently, many authoritative sampling results showed that the quality of children's clothing products in China is not optimistic. AQSIQ has inspected 200 products produced by 200 enterprises. After examination, 26 items of products failed to meet the standards. The Beijing Consumers Association carried out a comparative experiment on 63 kinds of children's garments produced or distributed by 47 enterprises in 7 provinces and cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong. It was found that 33.3% of the samples had varying degrees of problems; the quality inspection report of children's clothing shoes and other quality reports released by the Shanghai Quality Supervision Bureau were not eligible for 18.2%. In the spot checks, some consumers' "big names" were also on the blacklist, such as paramount, Paris, and so on.


Wang Qian, chief editor of the first textile network, said that because of the frequent problems of clothing quality, the industry has already seen strange problems about the unqualified sampling inspection. From the point of view of sampling objects, most of the sampling products are brand products produced by some large-scale enterprises. There are still so many quality problems in such products. The quality of children's clothing produced by SMEs is even more worrying.


It is understood that China's standards for children's clothing products have been more comprehensive and detailed, the provisions are more in place. The standard is strict and full, why children's clothing enterprises are still stuck in the "quality gate"? Wang Jin said, there are many reasons, but generally speaking, there are two main aspects: first, there are still loopholes in supervision; two, the implementation of standards for production enterprises is not in place. The quality of children's clothing is not up to standard, often not the equipment and technology problems, some of the quality of the behavior is often intentional.


The profit margins of the garment industry have already bid farewell to more than 20% of 5 years ago, to about 4% now. Wang Minjian, Secretary General of the clothing association of Humen Town, Dongguan, said in a media interview that clothing companies are now suffering from multiple pressure on export orders, rising domestic human resources costs, rising raw material costs, and appreciation of the renminbi, resulting in serious squeezing in profit margins.


Insiders pointed out that the profit of garment industry became thinner and the quality of products was the first to bear the brunt. Some small profit clothing enterprises often relax their control over quality when controlling costs. From the aspect of raw material purchase, some enterprises tend to purchase goods from irregular channels or purchase raw materials which are not standardized.


  Standards remain to be improved


The children's wear market is a fat cake. It is an indisputable fact that the total volume is expected to be 100 billion. However, half of the country is occupied by foreign brands, even if the remaining 50% share, of which 7 of children's clothing is still in the state of no brand competition.


Xiong Xiaokun, an analyst with CIC's light industry, pointed out that the children's clothing market has been taking advantage of the low price strategy for a long time, and more than 60% of children's clothing sales are mainly wholesale, and lack of awareness of independent brand building.


The industry believes that for the domestic brand of children's clothing, has reached the stage of "brand consumption" to meet this industry, whether in the brand positioning or in the channel construction, all have to be flexible. In addition, children's clothing standards still need to be improved. For example, in the children's wear buttons, the heavy metal spills exceed the standard, the plasticizer of the parts exceed the standard, the safety of the clothing cord and accessories, at present, there is no mandatory provision in our country, and the standards should be perfected as soon as possible.
