Confindustria Moda (Italy Fashion Industry Federation) also released some data on Italy's fashion and luxury industry: in 2018, the total sales volume of 6.6 enterprises in the industry reached 95 billion 500 million euros, up 0.7% over the same period last year; the total number of employees exceeded 580 thousand; and 70% of goods exported to overseas amounted to about 63 billion 400 million euros, up 2.7% over the same period last year.
In terms of sales, the top priority is the spectacle giant Luxottica (8 billion 900 million euros), but it is only 700 million euros higher than the second Gucci (8 billion 200 million euros), third is Prada (3 billion 100 million euros), and Armani, Calzedonia, OTB group (Diesel, Marni, Max Mara, Moncler, Moncler and Max are four to ten.
In terms of sales growth, Gucci took the lead, with an increase of 33.4% over the same period, followed by Moncler (19% growth, eighth in total sales), Brunello Cucinelli (8.1% growth, twentieth in total sales) and Dolce & amp; banana (4.3% growth, eleventh in total sales).
Luxottica, which ranked first in total sales, dropped 2.8% in 2018. They are not the only ones that have seen a decline in sales. Of the top 15 companies, 8 have slipped, some of them falling as follows: OTB (-3.2%), Ferragamo (-3.3%), Bottega Veneta (-5.7%) and Safilo (-7%).
Pambianco's chief executive, David Pambianco, said: "the transcripts submitted by the first 25 companies indicate that the overall situation of Italy's fashion industry is not satisfactory. Facing the fierce competition in the global market, the scale of enterprises under the traditional fashion business mode in Italy is still too small, and there is also lack of experience in commercial digitalization.
According to the industrial 4 observation report released by Politecn Milan, in 2018, 50% of the large and medium-sized enterprises in Italy launched the industrial 4 plan (i.e. digitalization in the industrial production and logistics links), while in the small and medium enterprises, the proportion was less than 10%.
