13 million acres

According to comprehensive media January 4th, Informa Economics, a private analysis agency, estimated that the planting area of Upland Cotton in the United States in 2011 was 12 million 805 thousand acres.

Analysts said that if the high level of the area was calculated, the Informa estimate would push the total sown area of cotton in 2011 to nearly 13 million acres.

If the American cotton sown area exceeds 11 million 40 thousand acres, the sown area will jump to five year high.

This is because the US cotton futures price rose sharply to pound per pound last month.

The cotton industry will hold the annual Beltwide Cotton Conference annual cotton production in Atlanta, Georgia, in from January 4th to 7th.
