PatriciaEspinosa, Minister of foreign affairs of Mexico, said that the Mexico government praised the dumping of Chinese textiles and had direct talks with Beijing authorities in order to solve the crisis that is about to expand.

According to the list of WTO member reservations listed in Annex 7 of China's WTO accession agreement, Mexico's anti-dumping measures against 1310 categories of Chinese products, including 21 bicycles, footwear, textiles, clothing, toys and door locks, will soon expire in December 12th (2007). When the conservative Mexican President FelipeCalderon is required to submit any products to the WTO dispute settlement group, it will continue to be subject to anti-dumping restrictions or tariff quotas and explain the reasons.

Mexico's foreign minister PatriciaEspinosa told the media after a visit to Beijing that Mexico hoped to reach an agreement with China before the expiry of anti-dumping measures, and believed that an agreement could be reached through consultation between the two sides. Besides, the canal also expressed the hope that the Chinese government would understand the fragile situation of Mexico because it was related to Mexico's economic plan.

Chinese commodities have been aggressively invading Mexico's domestic market in recent years. The growth rate has risen steadily every year in the 2 digit percentage, and has also replaced the share of Mexico manufactured goods in the United States and other markets.
