Textile Imports In Pakistan

The Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association (APTMA) asked the Ministry of Commerce to exclude polyester short fiber (PSF) from the rejection list. The current veto sheet has been completed with India.

It is hoped that this issue will be discussed with Anand, Sharma, Minister of Commerce and industry of India. Sharma arrived in Pakistan on February 13th for a three day visit to promote bilateral trade relations between the two countries.

Polyester staple fiber is a basic raw material for the manufacture of man-made textiles. There is a huge gap between supply and demand in Pakistan.

The free import of polyester staple fibres from India will benefit all fiber oriented industries from yarns to garments.

Akbar, vice president of the Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association, said: "the all Pakistan textile manufacturers association requires the Ministry of commerce not to include polyester staple into the rejection list, because we want to have a fair price in our market."

Akbar explained again: "Pakistan's production capacity is not."

satisfy

Demand.

At present, we import from China and other countries, because we do not import from India, although for us, from logistics point of view, import from India is cheaper. "

The analysis allows free import of yarn and no importation of polyester short.

fibre

At the time, Akbar said: "yarn can freely import from India, but it restricts the import of polyester staple fiber from India, which means they can sell yarn in our market.

Therefore, to compete with them, we need to freely import yarn from India.

If we can not import yarn freely from India, the price difference will be created, and the yarn made of polyester staple will be more expensive. "

Regarding other issues that may be discussed with Minister Xia Ma, he said: "there are some real concerns of Pakistan.

In different provinces of India, there are different taxes and customs duties. There are some laboratories in India. We need to send our products to where we are testing. This is a lengthy process.

Because we will invite the Minister of industry and Commerce of India to simplify this process.

If Pakistan does not levy any taxes on India's commodities, it should not impose taxes on the other party's imports.

This will ensure two mutual benefits. "
