The latest testing standard and limit value requirement for OEKO-TEX Standard 100 textiles hazardous substances inspection were released, which came into effect in January 1, 2012 and was fully implemented in April 1st.

The reassessment of test parameters is based on the current market and product development, the requirements of newly discovered toxic substances and new regulations, while taking into account the requirements of REACH regulations.

It is understood that the newly requested material covers the list of materials with high attention to REACH in 2011.

Production of hazardous substances.

According to TESTEX, a wholly owned company in China, TEDA (Beijing) Textile Inspection Co., Ltd., the update of the OEKO-TEX test project is as follows: according to the current version of the list of REACH candidate substances and the current consensus, the wet spinning fiber and coating will detect N- methyl pyrrolidone and two methyl acetamide.

The two chemical substances are listed under the new project of "solvent residues", and the limit value should not exceed 0.1% of the weight ratio.

Wet chemical fibers or yarns, such as aramid, polyacrylonitrile, polyurethane and polyimide, will examine this new substance.

In addition, four new plasticizers should be detected: two C6-8 branched alkyl ester of o-phenyl two carboxylic acid, two alkyl ester of two C7-11, two hexyl two formic acid, two hexyl phthalate and two methoxy ethyl ester.

These will be incorporated into the existing phthalate two formate project.

The total limit requirement will remain unchanged, 0.1% of the weight ratio.

Similar to the prohibition requirements for APEO in the field certification framework of OEKO-TEX Standard 1000, NP, NPEOs (1-9), OP, OPEOs (1-2) will also be included in OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification requirements.

The examination of such substances is limited to natural and synthetic fibers, yarns and fabrics produced by wet process, as well as natural leather and washed down eiderdown.

For new metal parts such as spray paint or non painted parts, and plastic parts, the new substances are not examined.

The following limits apply to all four product levels:

> nonylphenols: 100 ppm

> octylphenols: 100 ppm

> Total nonylphenol- (1-9) -ethoxylates: 1000 ppm

> Total Octylphenol- (1-2) -ethoxylates: 1000 ppm.

The test started from the new standard.

In order to allow enterprises to adjust production in sufficient time, allowing production enterprises to have a pitional period of adjustment, the exact effective date is April 1, 2013.

This is not applicable to OEKO-TEX Standard 1000 certification enterprises because they meet the required standards.

For product class IV

Leatherwear

For products, the limit of extractable chromium is 10 mg/kg.

It is different from the usual CR limit requirement for textiles obtained according to the best technology available in the market.

Such leather products are not toxic to humans when they are used as required.

In addition to the new test parameters, the quality surveillance ratio of OEKO-TEX certified products worldwide will be expanded to 20% of the certificated products throughout the year. The minimum monitoring ratio is 15%.

In recent years, an average of 18% percentage of certified products have been purchased from the store for testing and monitoring, all of which are borne by the international environmental textile association.

It is also known that OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is now accreditation for special products such as tents, baby carriages, office chairs or backpacks.
