"Unlike most people, I knew at the beginning what I wanted to do, and I chose the industry, not the industry that chose me." With a gentle and confident tone, Qu tintan, the third generation representative of Chinese fashion designers, smiles at the reporters and calmly talks about the development of Chinese clothing brands. From the exception of "women's clothes" to the popularity of women's clothing brands in China, Qu Ting Nan is most concerned about how to make Chinese fashion brand design dance in the international arena.

   Volunteer to read Clothing design

"Clothing design should also be understood from human physiology and psychology." Walking into the studio of Qu Ting Nan, he is discussing with his colleagues for the next clothing show. Light colored sportswear and spectacles without glasses, he reveals a sense of elegance.

"My father was engaged in Chinese painting. He especially hoped that I could inherit my father's career and arrange for me to learn Chinese painting from an early age. When the college entrance examination is filled, my father will ask me to apply for the Department of Chinese painting of Guangzhou Acmdemy of Fine Arts. But this is not my interest. " Speaking of the past, Qu Ting Nan said frankly that he could not do what he liked and made him sleepless all night. "When I learned that Guangzhou University started to set up the Department of fashion design, I couldn't wait to run in and sign up. Chen Hongxia, the great professional leader, appreciates that I have both the knowledge of art and the clothing industry.

In this way, Qu Ting Nan secretly transferred his files to Guangzhou University. Unlike many people who are ignorant of their dreams, Qu Ting Nan initially knew what he wanted to do.

Living in the basement has won the international award.

Since graduating from university in 1992, he has been struggling for more than 20 years in the field of Chinese costume design, and what impressed him most was a competition during his study in Paris.

"At that time, the clothing industry in Paris did not recognize Chinese designers, nor did they recognize them. I was alone in school and could only live in a basement for 250 francs a month." Qu Ting Nan frowned and told reporters: "the basement is above the subway, making me now hear the subway sound is very uncomfortable."

Although he is a leader in his class, Qu Ting Nan still has no international top level. Fashion world The pain of recognition. "The atmosphere of original design in foreign countries is very strong. I deeply realize that the domestic garment industry which is only processed is far from the world stage. And I need an opportunity to prove that China's fashion design also has excellent talents and elements. Qu Ting Nan said.

In 1999, France coincided with the third session of the United Nations Educational, scientific and Cultural Organization ("UNESCO") international competition on life and culture design in twenty-first Century. "I did not hesitate to sign up," recalls Qu Ting Nan. "At that time, the competition required the participants to think about the theme of" what we should show our children and grandchildren ". I immediately think of our Shunde people's favorite gauze.

Originally, Qu Ting Nan's ancestral family used to run Silk Embroidery. When he was a child, he often looked at people. Although this traditional craft gradually declined, but in Qu Ting Nan's heart, there was still a complex which was difficult to give up. "What I want to see for my children is what is most" native "in our hometown. As a result, Qu Ting Nan finished the works with gauze yarn and traditional embroidery. The result was well received and won the two awards of "World Folk Culture Award" and "twenty-first Century Design Award" at one stroke.

Insist on using Chinese characteristics. cloth

It is precisely because of this award that Qu Ting Nan first realized that Chinese traditional clothing was so popular in the world and made him more firm in inheriting, promoting traditional Chinese costumes and designing the dream of Chinese original fashion.

"After returning home, I insisted on using natural fabrics such as linen, silk and other Chinese characteristics to design garments." The persistence of Qu Ting Nan has also brought a new trend to the Chinese costume design industry. The designers of "exception" and other brands also began to favor the Chinese characteristic elements.

How to make Chinese costume design have vitality?

"The cut and decoration of western fashion exaggeration is not applicable to Chinese people, regardless of body shape or aesthetics. Chinese people need their own unique fashion style." Qu Ting Nan thinks.

"After the return of Hongkong, the" Chinese style "of" dragon and phoenix "was once popular on the street, but because it did not accord with the design of modern life, people gradually wore it away. People's demand for clothes is always improving. When they are no longer satisfied with where to wear the same POLO shirt, they will look for Chinese clothes again. Today, the fashion designers represented by Mark began to explore the style of modern Chinese clothing.

In the eyes of Qu Ting Nan, China's garment industry has made great progress. In the past, we basically relied on processing and making money, copying the European version and changing it into small production. Now we have begun to search for the soul of our long development. The original design has shown signs of "optimism that Chinese clothing will rise in five years".

At present, Qu Ting Nan is busy preparing for the August Guangdong Fashion Week conference, hoping to set up the standard of high fashion and custom fashion for the public. He believes that in the future, China will surely have more impact on clothing brands than Chanel and Dior.
