Old FormatOffice DocumentIntelligent Update

Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP and Office 2003 software in April 2014, and most of the users have upgraded to Office 2007 or even the latest 2013 edition.

The old version of the Office file uses binary files, which are opened in compatibility mode in the new version of Office. There may be problems.

How to convert these old files into a new version of Open XML format?

[problem-solving ideas]

One of the simplest ways is to get a new version.

Office

Open the old Office document and save it in the new version format through the Save As dialog box.

But when it comes to conversion.

File

In many cases, this method is too cumbersome. At the same time, we can use Office 2013 to provide quick conversion.

Using pform to achieve a key

To update

If only a small number of Office documents are available, one button conversion can be achieved by "conversion". Here is an example of Excel 2013 version.

The Excel workbook is loaded in the old version of the format, when the name of the file in the title bar displays the "compatible mode".

Switch to the file tab, select information on the left navigation pane, click the conversion button on the right-hand pane, then pop up the dialog box (Figure 1), click OK to complete the automatic conversion soon.

Batch update using OFC

If you need to convert multiple old format Word documents into new version format, using the above method will be troublesome. At this time, batch conversion can be achieved with the help of OMPM tools provided by the government.

First download the OMPM toolkit from the Internet and decompress it, and then install the Microsoft Office compatibility package on the computer that contains the files to be updated before taking care of the operation.

Enter the OMPM decompression folder, you can find the Ofc.exe command line tool in the Tools directory.

Refer to the built-in Ofc.ini file for related settings and set up many projects, but we need to focus on two aspects:

1. specify the location of the file to be updated: find the [FoldersToConvert] section, add the corresponding content according to the format of "fldr=\\server\share\docs", such as "fldr=e:\Temp\temp1\".

2. specify the output location after update: under the default settings, after updating, OFC will store the updated files in the Converted directory of the current path. If you need to re specify the location, you can find the [ConversionInfo] section, change the contents behind the DestinationPathTemplate=, and of course, use the default settings to make no changes.

Complete the above changes, enter the command prompt environment, execute the ofc.exe command (pay attention to the command path), and wait a moment to complete the task of batch updating the file format.
