Zhuang Jin: I Carried Out Fifty Textile Business In Philippines.
Chinese new latitude and longitude client 24 February (Yan Shuxin), the honorary director general of the Philippine China Business Association, Zhuang Jin, was born in Jinjiang, Fujian. When she was 10 years old, she came to Philippines with her father. It has been sixty years since then.
Recalling the experience of running textile and clothing business and life in Philippines these years, Chuang forward was filled with emotion.
He told the Sino Singapore Jingwei client-side that in the past sixty years, the status of Chinese in Philippines has undergone tremendous changes. From the inferior position to the rich side, the Chinese community has become an integral part of Philippines's economy and society.
Ten years old, leaving home to inherit his father's career.
The fate of Chuang Chuang and Philippines had already been established as early as the fathers.
In 1940s, China was relatively poor and backward, and most families were faced with the problem of survival.
In order to make a living, many young people choose to "go down to the Southeast Asia", including Zhuang Chuang's father, Jin Jin Lai.
According to Chuang Jin, in 1939, Zhuang Jin came to Philippines under the help of his fellow countrymen, doing some odd jobs such as Kitchen helpers, and so on.
During the Second World War, Zhuang Jin Lai joined the local Chinese to take an active part in the struggle.
"The father donated all the money he had saved to the Anti Japanese organization in Philippines."
Recalled Zhuang Chuang.
After the victory of World War II, Zhuang Jin came to a bean curd shop with several townships, and his business was not bad, but his hands slowly accumulated some money.
After that, Zhuang Jin returned home to marry and have children, and then returned to Philippines to open a garment factory.
With the scale of the garment factory becoming larger and larger, Chuang Jin came to think that he would take the wife and children of his hometown together and live together.
In this way, Zhuang moved to Philippines when he was 10 years old.
"After the founding of new China, a policy was introduced, and the children of overseas Chinese could take the lead in being approved to go abroad to inherit their father's career.
In 1960, I came to Philippines in this way.
Zhuang said that most of the overseas Chinese leaders aged sixty or seventy years old in Philippines had similar experiences.
In the first ten years of his life in Philippines, Chuang forward was mainly academic, and at the age of 20 he was formally involved in the business of his father's clothing factory.
According to the introduction of Chuang Chuang, they also encountered many difficulties in the process of entrepreneurship, but they all persisted, and later expanded their scale to open textile mills, cotton mills, bleaching and dyeing factories, and so on. Zhuang Chuang's father and son "one-stop" business lasted until the 90s of last century.
"After 1990, electricity charges in Philippines began to rise wildly, and the market competition became more intense. Most textile mills were in a state of atrophy. Down and down, there were only 43 Philippines textile mills left."
Chuang Qian recalled that the high cost of electricity greatly increased the cost of the local textile industry. "The yarn spun out of itself is at least ten yuan higher than the cost of foreign yarn, which can not be done at all."
In this way, Zhuang Jin has cut off the business upstream of the industry, leaving only knitmills and garment factories, which continues to this day.
"Now, most of Philippines's yarn and other products are imported from abroad, including China."
Chuang forward said.
"Four treasures of Philippine China" are deeply rooted in the hearts of the people
It is worth mentioning that in addition to running knitting factories and garment factories, Chuang Qian is also honorary director of the Philippine business association and director of Manila Hua Fu Center.
It is understood that the Philippine Federation of trade unions was founded in 1954, formerly known as the Philippines Chinese business association, and changed its name to the Philippine Chinese business association in 1956.
Since its establishment, the Philippine China Federation of trade unions has not only provided many assistance to the Chinese in Philippines, but also played a great role in promoting the development of Philippines.
According to Chuang Qian, in the second half of the nineteenth Century, the nationalism of Philippines rose and the movement of phenanthrene was surging. Chinese Zai Fei's life and business were all suppressed.
In order to safeguard the legitimate rights of local Chinese, the Philippine China Federation of trade unions came into being.
It is understood that since its establishment, the Philippine China Federation of trade unions has been a partner in Philippines's national development. The network of member organizations has covered the whole of Philippines. Both the business sector and social organizations have played an important role.
"In the Chinese society of Philippines, there has been a saying that" the Chinese society needs the general business and the business needs the Chinese community. "
Chuang goes ahead.
Moreover, the Philippine Federation of trade unions has long been committed to the cause of public welfare, actively assisting the local government in solving various social problems and establishing a good reputation among ordinary people in Philippines.
In this process, the "four treasures of Philippine China" played an important role.
The new China Jingwei client understands that the so-called "Philippine four treasures" refers to the four organizations of the rural schools, including the Chinese volunteer fire brigade, the voluntary clinic service and the disaster relief fund.
Taking the donation of rural schools as an example, Chuang Jin said that in order to help primary and secondary school students in poor areas of Philippines complete their studies, the Philippine Federation of trade unions began to donate rural school buildings from member organizations since 1961. As of now, more than 6600 rural schools have been donated, each with a price of 450 thousand phenanthrene.
"We are thinking that those students who have studied in our school buildings have become government officials when they grow up. They may also be grateful for the help of our Chinese people."
Chuang forward said.
The status of Chinese is no longer the same as before.
When talking about the status of Chinese in Philippines now, Chuang forward has a lot of feelings.
He said that the history of Chinese and overseas Chinese in Nanyang has been over 600 years. In the past, most of the Chinese living here had had a sad and painful experience.
"In the early days, the status of Chinese in Philippines was very low, and was once called" pig "by Spanish settlers.
Now it's different.
According to Chuang Qian, Chinese accounted for less than 2% of the more than 100 million population in Philippines, but played a vital role in Philippines's economy and society.
"Philippines's banking, industry, import and export, super stores and other important industries can be seen everywhere."
Zhuang Qian said.
In some ways, the Chinese in Philippines have been equated with the "rich".
In 2018, Forbes's list of the world's richest shows that more than half of the top ten of Philippines's richest are Chinese.
"Not only the top ten, the top twenty, the top thirty richest, but also the majority of Chinese."
Chuang forward said proudly.
In Zhuang's progress, the improvement of the status of the Chinese in Philippines is due to their own efforts, and on the other hand, it is also benefited from the growing strength of the ancestral (ancestral) country.
"With the enhancement of China's comprehensive strength and the improvement of its international status, the status of overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese is improving step by step.
Nowadays, many Chinese Filipinos are proud of their Chinese ancestry.
Moreover, the situation of Chinese participation in politics is also common in Philippines.
Zhuang Qian said.
