Beijing time September 4th, Ryui Masa, founder of the fast selling group of the company that is going to retire, said that he hoped his successor would be a woman, which would be better for the biggest Asian retailer.

"This job is more suitable for women," the 70 year old billionaire said in an interview. They are tough, detail oriented and have an aesthetic sense. "

A possible candidate is Ida Maki, who was appointed CEO of the Japanese business of UNIQLO earlier this year, which is the most profitable sector of the company.

Ryui Masa said he hoped to increase the proportion of women in the top management of the company to more than half. At present, there are 6 female executives in fast selling group, and last year reached the target of over 30% of women in management.

But for the whole Japanese society, women account for only 4.1% of the executives of listed companies. By contrast, women in the US executives account for about 1/4.

When asked if Ida Maki could be his successor, Ryui Masa replied, "this is possible."
