On October 23, Xinjiang cotton society organized experts to measure the field yield of 135 Mu "Xinhai 60" machine picked cotton in yuepuhu County: the average yield of seed cotton per mu is 546.9 kg, and that of lint cotton is 183.2 kg.

"This is another increase in yield after 530kg of seed cotton per mu in yuepuhu County demonstration field in 2019, setting a new record for high yield of long staple cotton in Xinjiang." Zhang Jusong, vice president of Xinjiang cotton society, doctoral supervisor of Xinjiang Agricultural University and cotton cultivation expert, who participated in the yield test, said, "from 2010 to 2018, the annual average yield of Xinjiang long staple cotton was 300-350 kg, and the highest was not more than 450 kg."

In 2018, "Xinhai 60" long staple cotton cultivated by the economic crop Research Institute of Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences was successfully planted in yuepuhu county; In 2019, Professor Zhang Xianlong of Huazhong Agricultural University, Hua Jinping, Professor of China Agricultural University and ye Wuwei, researcher of Cotton Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, measured the yield of 130 Mu "Xinhai No.60" long staple cotton in yuepuhu County: the yield of seed cotton per mu reached 530kg, breaking the record of large area yield of long staple cotton. In 2020, the planting area of "Xinhai 60" has been extended to 800 mu.

With the in-depth integration of "production, teaching and research", the "high-efficiency and high-yield industrialization of long staple cotton" and "key cultivation technology of mechanical harvesting" of the Institute of economics and research of Xinjiang Academy of agricultural sciences have been implemented in yuepuhu county. The scientific and technological personnel have followed and served, and integrated the technologies of Beidou navigation precision sowing, long staple cotton interplanting with fennel, drip irrigation and fertilizer under film, green prevention and control of harmful organisms, whole process mechanized management and harvesting, etc The planting efficiency was significantly improved.

"The unique climatic conditions, the deep integration of production, teaching and research, and the drive of textile enterprises make yuepuhu county the most potential new production area of long staple cotton." It is reported that yuepuhu county has listed the long staple cotton industry as a key development support industry in the "14th five year plan", and plans to plant 100000 mu of long staple cotton in the whole county in 2021; through the cooperative operation mode of "company + cooperatives + farmers", it will realize large-scale planting, standardized production and industrial development of long staple cotton, and create another high-quality long staple cotton production base in Xinjiang.
