Cotton Planting Area In Kazakhstan Declines In 2021

International news agency, Nursultan, August 4 (Xinhua), according to the government of Turkestan Prefecture, Kazakhstan, the cotton planting area in Turkestan Prefecture will reach 109700 hectares in 2021, with an average yield of 2810 kg / HA and seed cotton output of 308000 tons.

According to the data released by the Ministry of agriculture of Kazakhstan, in 2020, the cotton planting area of Turkestan Prefecture is 125800 hectares, and the seed cotton yield is 316000 tons. Due to the implementation of diversified planting, cotton planting area and yield will decline in 2021.

At present, there are more than 25000 agricultural business entities engaged in cotton planting in turkstan state, including 18 qualified seed cotton processing plants and 204 cotton purchasing stations. This year's drought climate conditions and abnormal high temperature in the growing period will have adverse effects on cotton yield.

Turkstan Prefecture is the only cotton producing area in Kazakhstan, and the main cotton producing area is marktalar region. Cotton accounts for nearly 40% of the total agricultural output value of the state, and most of the seed cotton produced is exported to Russia and China.
