The average selling price was 10.8 yuan / kg, up 68.3% year-on-year and 4.4% month on month. The purchase price of machine picked cotton in Northern Xinjiang is about 10.3-11.5 yuan / kg, that in southern Xinjiang is about 10.2-10.7 yuan / kg, and that of hand picking cotton is about 11.2-12.0 yuan / kg. This year, the area of machine picking cotton in southern Xinjiang has increased, leading to the shortage of cotton pickers and the cotton harvest period will be extended.

More rainfall in the cotton area of the Yellow River Basin affected boll opening and overall picking of cotton. Most cotton farmers reported that cotton quality and yield declined, while concentrating on harvesting other crops. Cotton picking and selling progress was significantly slower than the same period last year. As of October 15, the cotton picking progress in the basin was 49.8%, 36.8 percentage points slower than that of the previous year; The sales progress was 11.7%, 4.7 percentage points slower than the previous year; The average selling price of cotton was 8.5 yuan / kg, up 25.5% year-on-year and 2.4% higher than the previous period. Although cotton prices are higher this year, cotton farmers are still not active, especially in Hebei and Shandong provinces.

In most areas of the Yangtze River Basin, the weather is normal, the cotton quality is good, and the picking progress is obviously faster than the same period last year. In most areas, the cotton price is above 8 yuan / kg, and in some areas, the cotton quality is better, and the delivery price is more than 10 yuan / kg. Cotton farmers can pick and sell as soon as possible, and the sales progress is fast. As of October 15, the picking progress of the basin was 76.3%, 16.7 percentage points faster than that of the previous year, and the sales progress was 49.10%, 33.5 percentage points faster than the same period last year. The average selling price of cotton was 8.38 yuan / kg, up 31.50% year-on-year and 5.73% higher than the previous period.
