The 12 pieces of clothing donated by Taiwanese singer Zhang Xinzhe to the Shanghai Museum (hereinafter referred to as the "Shanghai Museum") of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China officially entered the museum on the 24th, including 10 pieces of cheongsam from the 1920s to the 1930s and two pieces of women's clothing of the Qing Dynasty.

Zhang Xinzhe, the "Prince of Love Songs", is keen on collecting cheongsam, and has initiated and organized many exhibitions such as "Chaodai: the seamless embroidery of Qing Dynasty", "People Tide - rare paintings of calendar cards and fashion trends of the 20th century", and has written "Philosophy of Playthings", "Zizi Private", and "People Tide - the history of calendar images".

Knowing that the exhibition themed "Made in the South of the Yangtze River" being prepared by Shangbo East Hall has a demand for displaying Shanghai style cheongsam, he selected 10 cheongsam collections with different characteristics from his own collection of more than 1000 cheongsam collections and donated them to Shangbo free of charge. When he learned that the category of Qing Dynasty women's clothing in the collection of the Shanghai Museum also needed to be supplemented, he generously donated his collection of Qing Dynasty shirts and blouses for display in turn.

After the appreciation and comment of foreign and deep garment experts in the museum, Zhang Xinzhe donated this batch of garments (12 pieces in total) with diverse styles, distinctive styles and exquisite craftsmanship, which highlights the artistic style and craftsmanship level of Jiangnan and Shanghai style women's garments in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, and has very high research value and display value.

Among them, cheongsam are all hand sewn, with exquisite and elegant Jiangnan or Shanghai style embroidery, flower buttons and other decorations. The fabric patterns are rich and artistic, and several pieces are also considered to be rare but important "Art Deco" style in Shanghai style cheongsam; Shirts in the Qing Dynasty were decorated with three blue embroidery of Jiangnan Suzhou embroidery to create a fresh and beautiful artistic style; The female coat with the front facing is meticulously made, and the embroidery patterns and techniques show the unique refined and elegant local flavor of Suzhou embroidery.
